weight / diet / weight loss surgery trigger warning !! plus just general bitching about it ansfdjk.

day 5 of my pre-op weight loss surgery / liquid diet. for reference, you can only eat about 4oz (your palm) of a lean meat with no sauce, 64oz of water, 80g of protein, &* sugar free jello or popsicles. oh &* as much fuckin like lettuce or broccoli or any green veggies rlly but they have to be just steamed ew. nasdfjk if i could eat green peas this would be SO EASY. so today i've had ... 2 protein shakes &* a handful of meat with taco seasoning. i am so ,,, hungry. &* definitely not drinking enough water so i'm dehydrated as shit. headache all the time. 0 energy. they say it gets 100% easier after surgery bc they literally detach the part of your stomach that signals hunger, so basically the 'hunger pain' alarm goes away. rn tho i'm still very much feeling it. i did lose 10lbs of water weight tho. crazy. only 10 more days to go. & then ill be bed bound for a while so u fuckers aren't gonna get a break.

Hopefully I can loosen up a bit more next time I attend a wedding. But bestie and I jammed out on the way back to her place and that was really fun! Specifically to all the "us" songs from college XD

Today we went to the farmers market and a Vietnamese restaurant! I tried matcha boba tea! It was definitely interesting but I liked it! I'm just not used to drinking sweet beverages so I didn't drink much but it was cool! My stir-fry was awesome too! And I didn't feel sick at all!

And then I drove to the Asian Food Market and got my lotus root! And some snacks because I always like trying new things!

That's a purple yam sweet bun, I ate it for dessert it was really good!

I actually did buy the piggy red bean paste moon cake last year, but he's so cute I had to get him again.

Also I've tried lots of different mochi but never banana so this will be exciting! I love banana flavored things.

I don't remember what the matcha pancake thing is called but I had to get something matcha, just in a new form I've never tried before.

And some miso soup powder.

Also there was a Japanese gift shop in there and they tempted me with pokemon plushies. I was this close to grabbing a wartortle or meowth or mew but they were $30. I paid for besties lunch today too thats enough spending for a while lol

I feel so cheated sometimes bc I fucking hate the taste and smell of meat (I categorize seafood as meat too) and beans

I'm Mexican-American

My Mexican mother is considered the best in the family for Mexican cuisine, everyone loves her food and I can't eat most of it

I can't eat it or smell it without wanting to gag (I don't, but I need to leave after a while to get a break)

Mexican food is considered one of the best food cultures in the world, my mother was born and raised in Jalisco and brought all the recipes she learned from her mother with her

I grew up on fast food and faster/easier recipes because she needed to put more time and effort into cooking for the rest of the family

I also grew up in Los Angeles, one of the best places in the US for authentic Mexican food. We'd go to Mexican restaurants when she didn't feel like cooking (and on one memorable occasion, a house/restaurant that was recommended to my parents at church lol), and if not Mexican restaurants, then some fast food place or seafood buffets. I stopped going out to eat with family often in my teens bc it wasn't worth taking me. I also remember being judged and just hated the experience and would make up excuses to not go

I don't know, I was on my tiktok fyp and I kept getting a lot of stuff about Mexican food and I just hate being reminded of my fucking defects so much. I didn't choose to utterly despise meat and beans and I feel so left out of my own culture. If I could eat it, I would, but I can't.

My siblings grew up on all of these amazing foods, and I grew up right alongside them, eating something else.
